Status of KRG Public Employee Salaries Every Month 2015-2024
The KRG public sector salary crisis is ongoing as civil servants still haven't been paid their October and November salaries, with December payments now also in question.
While Baghdad has sent 760 billion Iraqi dinars for October salaries, the KRG maintains that it requires over 950 billion dinars to meet its payroll obligations, leaving a significant deficit. The federal government has asked the KRG to bridge this gap using its internal revenue sources and oil export proceeds, which the KRG has yet to remit to Baghdad as required.
Meanwhile, in Sulaimani, a growing number of schools and an increasing number of public institutions, including the Municipality, Notary Office, and Electricity Department, have suspended operations to protest unpaid salaries, as civil servants await their October and November wages.
Here's how the crisis has affected employee salaries over the past 120 months:
- They received full salaries for 58 months - Got partial or reduced salaries for 44 months
- Went completely unpaid for 18 months Beyond the missing monthly payments, the KRG owes its employees approximately 23 trillion and 116 billion dinars combined, not counting suspended salary promotions and other benefits.
